Job description
As Consular Section Chief’s Clerk and Administrative Assistant, the position manages the Consular Section’s contact list, schedules appointments, responds to nonimmigrant visa inquiries, updates the website, and completes other administrative tasks as required. The position manages mail, time and attendance, and the storage room for the section. The position also provides backup coverage for the exterior receptionist who does initial triage for visa and American Citizen Services applicants. Provides translation for consular officers during visa interviews as needed.
Job Requirements:
- Experience: Two years of prior office work experience with extensive public contact or customer service is required.
- Job knowledge: Must know office procedures and be proficient in the use of PCs and PC-based software.
- Education Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Evaluations
Language: English, French and Wolof Level 3 (good working knowledge speaking /reading/writing) are required. (This may be tested)
Skills and abilities: Must use tact and good judgment in dealing with the public. Must be able to work under pressure and provide excellent customer service while adhering to high ethical standards. Must be able to understand and apply basic visa laws and regulations.
